🦚 While it is not fresh news, Dunfermline’s peacocks’ freedom of the city was formally granted and celebrated this week alongside the official unveiling of the new coat of arms. Both documents will be displayed in the Dunfermline City Chambers.
🎶 Outwith Festival is back on this week from Tuesday 3rd to Sunday 8th September. There is a variety of events all the way through with the big day of music and performances on Saturday 7th. Tickets are still available on Eventbrite.
🚗 Dunfermline’s DVSA testing centre is being accused of rampant last minute test cancellations. Across the UK driving test waiting times have extended significantly since pandemic and testing centres have never caught up with the backlog, leading to frequent 3-4 month wait times between tests. Dunfermline’s centre is allegedly plagued by very high sickness absence of staff.
💒 Fife Council has uploaded videos of interiors of ceremonial spaces that are used for weddings etc. to their YouTube channel. If you have never seem them before, or are considering booking them for any purpose, this is an easy way to check them out.
🏕️ The disused Castlehill deep mine site near Blairhall has been approved to be repurposed as a holiday park with up to 100 lodges, each with decking and designated parking. The mine used to supply Longannet power station near Kincardine before flooding in 2002 ended operations.
🌉 Queensferry Crossing is undergoing cable inspections until Friday 6 September, meaning a reduced 50mph speed limit during the day. There are no planned lane closures.
