☔ The new Property Flooding Resilience grant launches this week. It is intended to help homes and businesses build and improve resilience to flooding which has been affecting Fife properties much more noticeably in recent years. Applications open on 24 April, with grants of up to £5000 available per property.
⚓ Princess Anne has visited Rosyth Dockyard to tour the facility building the new type 31 frigate HMS Venturer, of which she is a sponsor. Construction of the ship has started in late 2021; it is expected to be launched later this year. All five type 31s ordered by the Royal Navy are being built in Rosyth. Their sister ships destined for Indonesian and Polish navies are being built in the respective countries.
🚉 Temporary ScotRail timetable for Fife Circle has been selected and will come into effect in June once Levenmouth Rail Link opens. The new Leven-Edinburgh service will be run hourly via Kirkcaldy and Aberdour. Permanent new timetable will be introduced next year with an additional hourly connection from Leven to Edinburgh via Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath.
🏥 Queen Margaret Hospital now has new visiting spaces intended to allow friends and family to meet older adult patients in more relaxed, homely settings instead of typical hospital wards.
⛪ Previously covered Erskine Building next to Kingsgate in Dunfermline has finally been auctioned off for less than quarter of the price it was last sold at 12 years ago. The Press did not manage to get hold of the new owners so it remains unknown what their plans for the building are.
🏫 Councillor Barratt is holding an in-person consultation on future of Inverkeithing High School site on Tuesday 23 April 16:00-18:00 at the Civic Centre.
🏘️ A developer is asking for street name change near Townhill Loch, with the currently approved street names - Euphemia Street and Wyse Witches Way - described as putting housebuyers off. Townhill Community Council has supported the request which will now go to the Council’s area planning committee.
